John enjoys working with anyone from children to retirees. He treats both recreational and elite athletes as well as families, workers, artists and the broader community. His main clinical interests are the assessment and treatment of the hip, knee and shoulder — particularly post-surgical patients and rotator cuff injuries.
Education
A graduate of Queen’s University, John has earned several internationally recognized qualifications, including a Masters in Clinical Science and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the University of Western Ontario, a Certificate in Manual Therapy from Curtin University in Australia, and the highest designation in manual therapy in Canada, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). He is also certified in Gunn IntraMuscular Stimulation (Gunn IMS)/ dry-needling.
John has published research looking at the effects of injection therapy on neck pain, and acts as a mentor to other physiotherapists within the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s orthopaedic division.
Outside the clinic
In addition to his clinical work, John travels as a physiotherapist for the Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Team.
He has also worked with the Canadian Men’s Water Polo Team, the Canadian Men’s Alpine Team, and the Canadian Speed Skating teams. During the course of this work, he has attended multiple world championships and the Pan Am Games.
